For Our Patients - Microneedling
-
1. Medication & Skin Care Adjustments
Accutane: Discontinue 6 months prior to treatment.
Topical Sensitizers: Avoid the following 5–7 days before treatment:
Retinoids
Topical antibiotics
Exfoliating agents (AHA, BHA, salicylic acid, etc.)
Hydroquinone and benzoyl peroxide acne treatments
Exfoliating masks
2. Medications
Anti-inflammatory medications (e.g., ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil) should not be taken for 3 days before treatment, as they can interfere with the healing process.
3. Sun Exposure
Avoid IPL/Laser treatments and unprotected sun exposure or sunburn for 2 weeks before your treatment.
4. Hair Removal
No waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis in the treatment area 5–7 days prior to your appointment.
Shaving: Please do not shave the day of your procedure. If the area has dense hair, shave the day before to minimize irritation.
5. Cold Sores
If you’re prone to cold sores, inform your provider. You may need to take an antiviral medication for 2 days before and the day of your treatment.
By following these guidelines, you can help ensure the best possible outcome from your microneedling session. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out prior to your appointment.

To ensure optimal results and promote healing, please follow these instructions after your microneedling treatment:
1. Sun Exposure
Avoid direct sunlight for 2 weeks after treatment.
After 24 hours, always apply mineral sunscreen when outdoors. Reapply every 2 hours.
Wear a hat when exposed to the sun for added protection.
2. Day 1–3: Immediate Aftercare
A sunburn-like effect is normal. Your skin will feel:
Tight, dry, and sensitive to touch.
Redness or sensitivity might be present.
Swelling may occur for 2–4 days, depending on the treatment intensity.
What to do:
Gently cleanse your skin with the mild cleanser provided to you at your appointment and cool water. Pat dry with a clean towel—wait at least 4 hours after treatment before doing this.
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, or steam rooms for 24 hours after treatment, or 48 hours if inflammation is present.
Sleep on your back, keeping your head elevated to reduce swelling and discomfort.
3. Day 2–7: Peeling & Skin Renewal
Peeling may begin 3–5 days post-treatment as skin turnover increases.
What to do:
Do NOT pick, scratch, or scrub treated skin. Let the skin naturally shed and stay moisturized at all times.
Use the Onda post-procedure kit provided during your appointment to hydrate and soothe the skin.
4. Day 5–7+: Resume Skincare
Once the irritation has subsided, you may resume your regular skincare products, including Retin-A.
Many patients notice continued skin improvement for months after the treatment.
If a peel was used at the time of microneedling, the peeling process might last longer.
5. Treatment Follow-Up
For best results, we recommend a series of 3–5 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart, based on your personalized care plan.
